POSITION DESCRIPTION

  • Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer

  • Ensure the accounting platform supports the production of timely, accurate and complete information for management and financial reporting purposes.

  • Responsible for corporate/investment accounting; general ledger and accounts payable and control procedures

  • Responsible for preparation of P&C1,  IFRS financial and note; corporate/investment accounting; general ledger and accounts payable; income tax provision & annual T2 tax return

  • Quarterly submission of consolidation numbers to Head Office including Cash flow, Shareholders Equity and tax comments

  • Quarterly submission of consolidation numbers to Head Office including Cash flow, Shareholders Equity and tax memo

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • 6+ years accounting and/or finance experience in the P & C industry

  • Strong system skills - Excel, People Soft, Business Objects, Magnitude (consolidation software) and Dimension (Investment software) preferred

  • Effective skills in leadership, analytical and problem solving; oral and written communications

  • Willing to do what is necessary to meet rigid deadlines

  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian GAAP investment and tax accounting; working knowledge of IFRS

  • Professional designation – CA/CMA/CGA; commitment to tight reporting deadlines
