POSITION DESCRIPTION

• Custodian of the corporate and technical accounting functions including: Canadian Statutory and IFRS accounting; internal and external reporting, compliance, investment accounting, planning; treasury, taxation and internal control functions

• Oversee Finance operations; corporate governance and compliance; reporting to Board on performance & analysis

• Review and analyze financial results for corporate and technical accounting

• Support the investment management function; manage the financial info flow with European Head Office for consolidation purposes

• Continued development and implementation of cost control tools and budget reporting procedures

• Assist in the management of relationships with auditors; bankers; rating agencies; regulators and the Head Office

REQUIREMENTS

• Twelve plus years of Accounting experience. At least five years of experience within the insurance/ reinsurance industry required

• Professional accounting designation, Post secondary education; excellent computer skills and financial systems including PeopleSoft and Business Objects.

• Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills

• Team Leader and ability to manage multiple concurrent files
