POSITION DESCRIPTION |
- The Actuarial Associate will be assigned to one of the following lines of business: Individual Life, Group Life & Health or Living Benefits. For the line of business assigned, the mission of this position is: To assist in the production of financial information related to valuation, solvency and planning issues. This information is used for internal and external reporting, monitoring the performance of the company, its ability to meet future obligations, and for capital and investment planning.
- The Key Result Areas for this position are: Financial Reporting, Experience Studies, Systems and Data Support, and Pricing, Policy Administration, Underwriting, Claims Support
- Environment: The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a number-intensive, systems-based environment, with fairly complex calculations; where analysis of the input data, processes and results to determine reasonableness is required. Since the incumbent will rely on and will provide services to other departments, establishing and maintaining good working relationships with other departments is essential.

Required Skills & Knowledge
In order to perform the role of Actuarial Associate effectively, the successful candidate should have the following qualifications:
- University graduate in Actuarial Science
- Actively pursuing a fellowship designation with a minimum of 4 SOA exams or the equivalent under the current SOA program
- Two or more years working experience in an actuarial environment (preferably Corporate)
- Proficient systems skills in Microsoft Excel, Access & Word
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
- Analytical, methodical, focused and decisive
- Good organization / time management skills
- Able to manage and coordinate multiple projects at any given time
- Equally comfortable working independently or as part of a team
Desirable Qualifications
- The incumbent will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, will demonstrate flexibility in order to meet project timelines and will be service and result oriented. The selected candidate will be working in a number-intensive environment where attention to detail and accuracy is important.
Exposure to AXIS, APL and Datalink would be advantageous
