The Actuarial Analyst is responsible for the maintenance of the illustration system, technical product research, competitive comparisons, and technical field support on systems and concepts. This role will require a heavy involvement in business and system testing, market research, industry trending, commissions and will lend expert support to the Individual Life product team. In addition to the above responsibilities this role will give product support to the direct marketing campaigns including data analysis.
- Illustration
- Lead the development of scope documents to establish the criteria for illustration changes.
- Ensure that the products within the illustration system are working to specifications as defined by the Individual Life product area.
- Support all Illustration inquires from the field and ensure issues are logged.
- Ensure the illustration system is compliant with the CLHIA Illustration guidelines.
- Lead the development of the inforce illustration system with the Co-operators.
- Support the annual inforce illustrations for the field
- Produce product specifications for the development of the illustration system.
Product Development and Support
- Responsible to supply technical product expertise around the Universal Life product including but not limited to concepts and taxation.
- Support the product development area in building experience studies around lapses and expenses.
- Support the product development process
- Product support to direct response marketing during campaigns and support on data analysis.
- Support the commission system and ensure the commissions are being calculated correctly as determined by the Individual Product area.
- Responsible for the research and development of sales concepts for the universal life product
- Support the development of queries against the datamarts to develop reports
- Support the field on all special quotes requiring research and analysis.
- Writing and maintaining product documentation including but not limited to product specifications, procedure manuals, scope documents, and requirements.
Product Research
- Carry out product research and report on competitor products, initiatives, underwriting practices, industry changes, illustration systems, and any other pertinent information as required by Individual Life product.
- Responsible for the completion of competitive comparisons.
- Responsible for the analysis of direct marketing data and benchmarking against industry.
- Support the field on technical questions pertaining to product
Testing
- Key testing resource in support of the illustration system, electronic application, and Phoenix.
- Responsible for maintaining a full test bed of policies for use in end to end testing.

REQUIREMENTS |
- University Degree
- Associate of the Society of Actuaries
- 5+ years of experience
- Extensive knowledge of all Life Company products and applications
- Solid/extensive grasp of business processes
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute tasks
- Strong customer service orientation
- Practical knowledge in importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flow charts
- Understanding of core software applications including MS Project, MS Office Suite, Visio, etc.
- Good oral and written communication skills, team player, organized, excellent inter-personal skills, innovative, self-motivating, and willingly accepts new challenges, proactive, attention to detail
- Nice to Have: Project Management Experience and Visual Basic Expertise
