POSITION DESCRIPTION |
-
Act
as Claims Examiner
on
physical damage files (primarily property)
handled by Independent Adjusters, by verifying and approving
settlement
of
claims aligned with the Physical Damage File Management Model(s).
In addition,
manage a pending of direct handled files including staff
claims.
-
Advise Claims Advisors on the
application of various insurance contracts, and ensure
conformance with our best practices with respect to the
administration of claims, taking into account the client
experience and the appropriate control of claim costs.

Impart technical expertise and coach
Claims Advisors on developing their technical skills.

Analyze claims and prepare appropriate
directives for
Advisors and other parties involved regarding the settlement
of
claims.

Seek settlement solutions and propose them to the Advisors,
clients and other parties involved in cases that are in
dispute
or
beyond the Advisor's authority limits.

Follow up on results Verify and approve
the settlement
of claims submitted.

May
provide immediate expert technical support
and guidance to
Claims Advisors
primarily through telephone queue response as required by
Manager.

May
be involved in other related activities as required, i.e. working
on
special projects
that may arise.

To
provide quality
assurance services to
claims operations
to meet risk
management, productivity
and client satisfaction
objectives,
as required.

REQUIREMENTS |
-
Minimum 4 –5 years of proven extensive property claims
experience is required
as well as
proven APD experience.
-
Post-secondary education (College diploma or University
degree) in business
or
insurance related field is preferred.

CIP designation or enrolled in the program with special
focus on
courses required to obtain provincial adjusting licenses.
-
Sound knowledge of automobile, home and liability insurance
contracts
required.

Good knowledge of investigative techniques.
-
Proficient at settling claims.

Proficient with our in-house & other computer systems (i.e.,
INDEM, MS Word,
Access, Excel, Lotus)
-
Good knowledge of insurance-related laws and regulations
and how to apply them.

Superior time management and
organizational
abilities.
