POSITION DESCRIPTION

  • The role of the Administrative Assistant is to provide administrative support and to be a team player demonstrating initiative in contributing towards the results-oriented operation of the unit.

  • The Administrative Assistant will provide support to the Claims Department by generating correspondence and documents, including dictation, proof-reading and gathering system data for claims handling.

  • This position is also involved in account payout, organizing claims files, communications, and providing assistance in claims handling.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Have prior related work experience, preferably in a legal or insurance environment;

  • Have formal training in secretarial skills, Community College/University graduate preferred;

  • Have good knowledge of Microsoft Office software package, computer systems, Lotus Notes, IS system and AS system;

  • Have excellent typing speed, and accuracy

  • Have strong attention to detail; and is skilled at time management and setting priorities;

  • Have experience working in a team environment and in stressful situations;

  • Have strong organizational skills and is used to working in a high volume situations;

  • Be proactive in their approach to work;

  • Demonstrate a high level of discretion, tact and understands when information is confidential.
