POSITION DESCRIPTION

• Management of premium forecast & budgets

• Select and underwrite profitable new and renewal business across Canada

• Ensure all accounts are underwritten and structured with full regard to risk and profitability

• Maintain proper documentation of files and comply with company and department standards

• Make independent sales calls to market and cross-market products and grow target business to increase profitability

• Identify cross-selling opportunities; Refers declined business to other Underwriting divisions, as appropriate

• Strong visibility in the marketplace, develop new and hone existing contacts in the broker and risk management fields

• Occasional travel to support broker and client/risk manager relationships

REQUIREMENTS

• 7-10 years primary casualty underwriting experience, handling both large and small complex commercial risks

• College/University degree

• CIP/FCIP designation an asset

• Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, time management, presentation and negotiation skills

• Ability to manage work load effectively, especially during times of high activity and tight time lines

• Working knowledge of systems and PC applications (Windows, Outlook, MS Word and Excel and database administration)
