POSITION DESCRIPTION |
-
5-7 years primary casualty underwriting experience, handling
both large and small complex commercial risks
-
Foreign Multinational experience an asset with Foreign
Voluntary Workers Compensation, Auto, Liability and General
Liability Risks
-
Underwriting exposure to Construction and Oil and Gas
business a definite asset
-
College/University degree
-
CIP/FCIP designation an asset
-
Excellent oral and written communication skills
-
Excellent organizational, time management, presentation and
negotiation skills
-
Marketing abilities
-
Ability to manage work load effectively, especially during
times of high activity and tight time lines
-
Ability to work independently to meet deadlines, as well as
in a team oriented approach to accomplish goals
-
Confident knowledge of systems and PC applications (Windows,
Outlook, MSWord and Excel and database administration)

REQUIREMENTS |

Management of premium forecast & budgets

Production and underwriting of profitable new and renewal
business across Canada

Ensure all accounts are underwritten and structured with
full regard to risk and profitability

Ensure files are well documented and comply with company and
department standards

Relationship management with Home Office and Region
personnel

Make independent sales calls to market and cross-market
products
-
Identify cross-selling opportunities; Refers declined
business to other Underwrting divisions, as appropriate

Strong visibility in the marketplace, develop new and hone
existing contacts in the broker and risk management fields
-
Grow target business and increase profitability
-
Risk assessment and development of underwriting solutions
-
Occasional travel to support broker and client/risk manager
relationships
