POSITION DESCRIPTION

The manager will encourage profitable growth and operational efficiency and contribute to maintaining the company’s high standards of service and quality for RoC by:

  • Managing automobile and property underwriting specifically focusing on the evolution, development and implementation, ensuring utmost performance and efficiency, of the organization’s insurance offering.

  • Managing the evolution, definition and development of insurance documentation

  • Managing the identification, development and implementation of the necessary changes to the guidelines, wordings, filings and insurance documentation required in order to comply with regulatory changes.

  • Participating in the positioning, and managing the evolution, and development of methods to:

    • Provide insurance support and ensure synergy with Operations, Underwriting, Training and Technical Advisor Teams
    • Conduct performance follow-ups on the implemented policies/guidelines to ensure they are applied, and identify problems.
    • Keep abreast of the regulatory changes, trends and the legal environment and identify the impacts.
  • Developing underwriting tools for the operational underwriting teams, to ensure the transfer of knowledge and the development of underwriting skills.

  • Optimizing the integration of coverage/underwriting/ratemaking and claims components.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION & TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • University Degree

  • Associate of the Insurance Institute of Canada

  • 8 to 10 years of experience within the General Insurance Industry, with at least 5 years in Underwriting capacity.

  • Solid Project Management experience, including principles and practices.

  • Knowledge of the philosophy and principles of product development, coverage, underwriting policies, business processes and organization systems/tools.

  • Knowledge of the industry’s coverage and underwriting methods.

  • An upper intermediate level of English Proficiency is required
